Levels of selenium (Se) in blood and the activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in the red blood cells were measured in two different populations of Australian Aborigines and three populations of Caucasians. Both values were significantly different among different groups.  No sex differences were present in either Še or GSH-Px levels.
